Our Pillars

The "pillars" below best encapsulate what we believe as a church, who we are, how we function, and what we desire to accomplish. If you would like a more detailed breakdown of what we believe concerning important doctrines, please see the link at the bottom of this page.

1.) The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of our life. Through faith in His death, burial, and resurrection we are born again spiritually and reconciled to God. He is our eternal life, but we understand that He is also to be the center of our physical lives as well. Our desire as a local church and as individuals is for Jesus Christ to be our focus, and to bring Him glory in every avenue of life.
  • Colossians 3:1-4, 1 John 5:20-21, Galatians 2:20, Hebrews 12:1-2
2.) The standard and authority by which all other things are measured, and are in submission to, is the Word of God.  We believe the scriptures to be the individual words of God, inspired and revealed to mankind by His Holy Spirit, perfect and preserved without error from generation to generation.  The words of God do not merely contain truth, but they are the standard of truth.  We believe that the Word of God isn’t in the original manuscripts, or something that mankind is getting closer to with every new translation of the Bible; we believe uncompromisingly that the Word of God is preserved by God himself, to the very word, in the common language of the world for the common person in the Authorized King James Bible.  All matters of faith and practice default to that book, and no other version will be taught from or discussed as authoritative in this church.

3.) The main responsibility of the local church given by Jesus Christ is to fulfill the Great Commission, which breaks down into two parts. Firstly, we are to go and preach the gospel of the grace of God to the whole world. We preach the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, which is the only solution for sin and death provided by God in this age. Should a person put their faith and trust in Him, apart from self-righteous works and religion of any kind, they will be saved. Secondly, it is the church’s job to come alongside new believers and teach them the scriptures so that they might grow in their faith. We call this process of teaching and instructing new believers in the Bible discipleship.  All of our ministries exist so that the lost might be saved, and that the saved might be established in the word of God.
  • Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 & 15:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 2 Timothy 2:1-2
4.) The Bible spans thousands of years of history and future events; it deals with multiple difference people groups, throughout multiple ages, under various covenants and salvation systems.  As a result, the Word of God is to be rightly divided within itself and passages are to be kept in their proper contexts.  These divisions are commonly called dispensations, which is how God dispenses His grace to different people groups at different times throughout the scriptures.  Making right divisions and studying the Bible dispensationally, by comparing scripture with scripture, is the only way to consistently interpret the Bible literally without causing confusion or heresy.

5.) As believers, we understand that we are engaged in spiritual warfare in the world, that we will accomplish nothing of eternal value without Jesus Christ being involved, and that prayer is how we tap into the power of God. Prayer is our direct connection to God and the outlet by which He blesses His churches and His people; therefore, we place a high premium on prayer in this church.  It is our desire to constantly be in prayer and to maintain a close connection to the Lord Jesus Christ both privately and corporately. When we gather as a body of believers under one roof, prayer is primary.

6.) The Lord Jesus Christ has saved each believer for the purpose of performing good works in this life and being a benefit to the local church.  As members of the body of Christ, we understand that each member is important and has a unique function.  It is not just the pastor or the deacons who are expected to perform the work of the ministry, but the members as well.  The expectation here is that we do not just attend church and warm a seat.  Each member is expected to attend services so that they might grow in the faith, to do something for the local church, and to serve the Lord Jesus Christ out in the world.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 2:10 & 4:15-16, Titus 3:8, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20

7.) Charity is the biblical word for sacrificial, God-like love put into practice by believers.  This is the quality by which a spiritual life is measured as the believer is conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.  It trumps Bible knowledge, spiritual gifting, and spiritual disciplines.  As a church our desire is to love one another and to love Jesus Christ sacrificially, doing all that we do from the heart, as opposed to doing it as empty religion.  Charity recognizes that “it’s not about me” but about the Lord Jesus Christ and others.  This is what enables us to forgive, selflessly serve, and love one another.
  • 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Peter 4:8, Ephesians 4:24-32, Colossians 3:12-14, 2 Peter 1:5-7
8.) The ultimate goal of a local church is not that it grows into a mega-compound with thousands of people under one roof and under one pastor.  The goal of a local church is that the church itself eventually reproduces other local churches around the globe.  For that to occur, pastors, teachers, and servants of Jesus Christ need to be developed within the church itself so that they might be sent out, and so that others might be raised up to take their place.  Our church is designed in such a way so that men and women are trained in the scriptures and given opportunities to serve and grow in the ministry. This can be a messy process at times, but when believers are given room to grow, it enables the local church and the Body of Christ to grow as well.

9.) The local church is a body of believers on earth, which pictures the Body of Christ in heaven of which all saved individuals are members. For the local church to function properly and glorify Jesus Christ as He designed, we must all strive to be of one mind, one purpose, and must all speak the same thing.  Division, infighting, gossip and complaining destroys the church from the inside out and breaks down the picture our church is supposed to reflect, so we protect unity at all costs. To accomplish this, each individual member must submit themselves, their opinions/preferences, and their experiences to the Word of God and to Jesus Christ the Head of the body.
